Visualizing the mechanics of insomnia
Visualizing the mechanics of insomnia
The Night Records is a conceptual editorial illustration series exploring chronic insomnia as a system error of the brain.
Inspired by neurological research and ARTE science documentaries, the project translates sleeplessness into a visual interface: a brain that fails to shut down and starts recording the night instead of resting.
The series combines a full-page hero illustration with a set of interface-inspired spot illustrations, designed to function across an editorial layout.
404 Sleep Not Found — a visual metaphor for inaccessible rest
Core Memory / Pending / Noise — a system that sorts mental overload, loops and unfinished thoughts
The visual language borrows from digital error states, recording devices and UI logic to make an invisible, psychological process tangible.
This project was developed as a self-initiated editorial concept and demonstrates my approach to complex topics through clear metaphors, strong narrative images and scalable visual systems — from cover illustration to informational spots.
